Daniel Bryan’s current WWE contract is set to expire on Saturday, September 1, 2018. As of right now there is no new deal in place for Bryan. WWE officials are said to be upset that he hasn’t re-signed.
Ona a recent edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Daniel Bryan still hasn’t re-signed, and that this week’s segment on Smackdown Live involving Bryan and The Miz was meant to show that officials are not happy with the ‘GOAT.’ Meltzer went on to say that although he still expects Bryan to re-sign, “there is a lot of weird stuff going on” with his contract negotiations. Meltzer didn’t mention any specific problems holding the deal up.
Officials could be upset about mixed signals Bryan has sent in the past. First saying he would likely re-sign and then being openly critical of WWE‘s storytelling and booking.
As a way to make Bryan happy and ease the negotiation process, WWE have pulled Daniel Bryan from some weekend live events.
As of now Bryan is still being advertised for events after his current contract expires. Including the October 6 Super Show-Down event in Melbourne, Australia, and the Madison Square Garden live show on December 26.
