It doesn’t appear that Rob Van Dam will be Frog Splashing his way into Lucha Underground anytime soon. Van Dam had a snarky response for a fan suggesting he consider the promotion.
I love when people tell me what I should do. https://t.co/5Qv1FgxkBj

Dam, it was just a suggestion. However, RVD had this response to a tweet attempting to point that out:
OH! Ok. Thank God I got this message in time. I was about to board a bus. https://t.co/6UfCpPGNgF

Apparently, it was the use of the word “should” that provoked Van Dam’s ire.
Starting phrases with “you should” or “ you need to” is a projection of inner desire to control or direct someone’s path with your own standards.

Van Dam has worked for several promotions including ECW, WWE/F, and TNA. He has expressed a lack of interest in working full time for any promotion. In an interview on Hannibal TV, he discussed being semi-retired:
“I pretty much do everything as little as possible. I like being off and enjoying life.”
He still performs but not on a regular basis. The full interview can be found here.
The travel and physicality of the wrestling business can certainly take its toll. It is understandable why he would prefer a light schedule. He also doesn’t confirm or deny his willingness to periodically return to WWE/NXT. Given his ring prowess, it is unsurprising that fans would be eager to embrace a return.
