Hollywood sensation and multiple-time former WWE Champion Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has set wrestling fans’ tongues wagging about a potential return to the promotion with the following tweet:
THE LEGEND IS REAL.
Pretty cool announcement droppin’ today. 3pm EST / 12pm PST
No it’s not a movie about my cheat meals, though that would be fun 💀#TheLegendIsReal pic.twitter.com/uboM4wMcY3— Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) October 9, 2018
Although no hints are given about what the announcement could be related to, many fans believe it may be confirmation of his return on next week’s huge SmackDown 1000 special.
The timing would certainly make sense, as WWE could hype the return on tonight’s episode of SmackDown Live.
Rock’s image has been used frequently in the hype packages for SmackDown 1000, which although not a surprise given the event is named after one of his catchphrases, still seems to suggest he will have a presence on the special.
There has been talk of Rock returning to be part of the Milwaukee soap opera with Rusev, Aiden English and Lana and that he will wrestle in Saudi Arabia in 2019 and at WrestleMania 35 against Roman Reigns. However, all of these are mere rumours and have not been backed up by any evidence from WWE or The Rock himself.
We will keep you posted about what The Rock’s “cool announcement” is in a few hours time.
What do you think Rock’s announcement will be? Will he appear at SmackDown 1000? Let us know.
