Taking part in a live episode of Talk is Jericho, The Elite confirmed what many have been openly speculating, namely that they’re no longer in the Bullet Club. Speaking from what looked like the upper deck of Chris Jericho’s Rock ‘N’ Wrestling Rager At Sea, The Elite seemed more than comfortable chatting with their host, last featuring on Talk is Jericho just before the ALL IN pay-per-view back in September. This time, with no sell-out event around the corner, talk moved to what is next for the friends.
Birth of The Elite
With the Young Bucks having recently marked the date they joined the Bullet Club and the date on which The Elite was formed on Twitter, Matt Jackson spoke about the creation of The Elite:
“Myself, my brother and Kenny Omega, we attacked AJ Styles and we called ourselves ‘The Elite of Bullet Club’. Essentially in the beginning it was a sub group of Bullet Club, and we had a lot of fun. We decided to start a travelling vlog in May of that year (2016) called ‘Being the Elite’. After a while, Nick, I and Kenny realised that there’s only so many times we can document going through airport security, so we should probably introduce some new characters. Obviously our first choice was to be our friends in our unit, the Bullet Club, because we naturally travel with these guys, we hang out with these guys and we pretty much do everything together. “

Matt went on:
“It seems like everyone has excluded this part of the Bullet Club, they call us the ‘Being the Elite’ guys.”
Next Chapter
It fell to Cody to actually make the announcement:
“I hate telling you this, because I see all the merchandise out there and God, we thank you so much for every time you’ve ever bought a t-shirt for any independent wrestler ever, it’s the coolest thing ever to see your shirt, to see a sea of Bullet Club shirts, I mean, it’s amazing. This group right here (Kenny Omega, Cody Rhodes, the Young Bucks, Adam ‘Hangman’ Page and Marty Scurll) is no longer [in] the Bullet Club.”
“The Tongans, the OG’s, Jay White, the Bullet going to be awesome, it’s going to thrive, it’s going to kick ass, we wish them the best of luck. This, this is the Elite.”
Earlier this month, the Young Bucks, Adam Page, Cody and Marty Scurll cryptically all released similar messages, saying their newest Bullet Club shirt would be their last and that each might be their favourites. This, combined with the beating Tama Tonga, Tanga Loa and Haku handed out after the NJPW G1 Special in San Francisco left most people assuming a change was coming. With Tama Tonga tweeting the following on Friday of last week:
Glad some are admitting they’re not #BulletClub anymore. Acceptance is the first step. #Badboy is an understatement, I am #CutThroat

It seems we now know who the ‘some’ were.
