US wrestling promotion EVOLVE have spent the last six months in a working relationship with WWE‘s developmental brand NXT. During that time, black and yellow mainstays such as Kassius Ohno, Johnny Gargano & the Street Profits have all made appearances at EVOLVE events. The latter of which became the EVOLVE Tag Team Champions in October and still hold them to this day.
Now, WNNLive (EVOLVE‘s parent company) has released a mini-documentary on their YouTube channel highlighting the working relationship between the two brands. The short expresses what the partnership has meant to those involved from the wrestlers to the commentators as well as promoting upcoming shows which will feature former NXT North American Champions Ricochet and Adam Cole.
Below is the synopsis released alongside the video on YouTube:
“This EVOLVE Mini-Doc examines the historic dynamic between NXT and EVOLVE.
“The last six months have seen NXT enter a relationship with EVOLVE for the benefit of independent wrestling. It has created a synergy that has resulted in some of the most unique matches, happenings and cards that have ever been seen in professional wrestling.
“We have witnessed NXT Superstars put on classics in EVOLVE. We have seen EVOLVE stars featured on WWE.com and on WWE social media. The goal is to strengthen the independent wrestling scene.”
It will be interesting to see this partnership flourish as well as the impact that the pairing between WWE and an “indie promotion” will have on the rest of the industry in the long run. This working relationship could open the doors to other promotions looking to raise their status by affiliation with the largest wrestling company in the world.
