It was confirmed earlier today that Tampa, Florida’s Raymond James Stadium will host 2020’s WrestleMania 36. It will mark WWE’s second WrestleMania in the state in four years but their first ever in Tampa.
You can watch WWE’s live stream of the announcement below:
Amidst of the typical corporate bluster and self-congratulatory back patting about the positive economic impact that WrestleMania will have on Tampa, the promotion also revealed the logo for the event and it is a cracker:
As you can see, WWE have gone for a pirate theme for the logo, which is related to Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who play their home games in the Raymond James Stadium and have a pirate themed logo similar to the WrestleMania one. The colours are also the same as those worn by the Buccaneers:
The pirate theme is a popular one in Tampa outside of the Buccaneers, which hosts the 105-year old annual Gasparilla Pirate Festival in the city every January.
The WrestleMania 36 logo swaps a pirate flag for a WWE flag (with a sword for the flagpole), which is one of the more interesting ways to incorporate a logo that we have seen in years.
The WrestleMania name itself is written on what appears to be a headband/bandanna/pirate flag, and again, it looks awesome. This may be the best WrestleMania logo in years. Perhaps ever?
What do you think of the WrestleMania 36 logo? Do you love it or do you think it is a gaudy mess? Let us know in the comments below.
