Shawn Spears (formerly WWE and NXT’s Tye Dillinger) was confirmed as All Elite Wrestling’s newest signing today in the latest Road to Fyter Fest episode.
Spears was released by WWE in February 2019, and his 90-day non compete clause ran out the day before Double or Nothing. Spears appeared on the pre-show in the Casino Battle Royale, which was ultimately won by Adam “Hangman” Page.
Speaking after the big show, Spears revealed that he had not signed a full-time AEW contract, and his deal with the company was a one-off to work Double or Nothing. However, he left the door open to signing with the new promotion on a regular basis.

Cody Rhodes said in today’s Road to Fyter Fest episode that Spears is a “good hand” and will likely become a “player/coach and then a coach” for the promotion.
It is clear that Spears agrees with Rhodes and does want to help the younger generation of wrestlers coming through. Just last month, Spears revealed that he and current WWE superstar Tyler Breeze are opening up a wrestling school.
It is unknown at this time who Spears will be wrestling at Fyter Fest, or if he will even be working the show at all.
