WWE is expected to announce on Raw tonight that NXT will be airing on the USA Network starting September 18.
Other reported details note that the show will be two hours in length, will be live as opposed to taped in advance, and include some crossover of talent with Raw and SmackDown.
Fightful is reporting on some backstage reactions to the imminent news from members of the WWE main roster.
One “highly placed source” apparently appeared to not really care in the slightest, with a “yeah, what of it?” sort of reaction, also noting the impact it would have on the main roster would be “minimal” at least to start with.
There was also one talent who had no idea the change was even happening.
A “veteran” questioned how going to two hours – i.e. doubling in length – would affect how the audience would react to the style of the brand.
Someone who “doesn’t have the concern of traveling much” expected NXT to simply be treated as the third brand to Raw and SmackDown regardless of the buzz it generated.
The same name admitted it would be difficult to get people to prefer NXT over the “new” feel of AEW, but thought AEW would outdraw NXT in arena attendance, but NXT would do better in TV viewers.
The report added that “several” people who work for NXT found out details on the deal the same time everyone else did and hadn’t been told previously.
