One of the blessings of taping shows in advance is they can be re-shot and edited, and here’s some news on how WWE is utilising that blessing.
Fightful Select (subscription required and recommended) has noted two particular instances where re-shooting occured.
The first mentioned was from the match that aired last night between Otis and King Corbin. Otis reportedly had to take a brutal spinebuster four times instead of just once, despite that not actually being something that was messed up to begin with.
The second was from a Raw episode where MVP was cutting a promo and called the NXT extras in the crowd “NXT Superstars”. Management reportedly instructed the promo to be re-shot and for MVP to refer to them as “Performance Center recruits” instead.
Some fans criticise edits and re-shoots at tapings, claiming they take away from the raw-ness (no pun intended) of wrestling shows, but there’s also an argument to suggest such changes can often make the overall product better.
One of the more prevalent edits recently came from last Monday’s Raw where Nia Jax botched whipping Kairi Sane into the steel steps, which led to Sane getting a cut on her head, something that was purposely not shown on TV.
