Drew McIntyre managed to retain the WWE Championship against Randy Orton at SummerSlam last night. Not only that but he did it in a way everyone totally saw coming. With a backslide. Joking aside, he is still your WWE Champion and he will be opening the show tonight on Raw.
WWE announced the segment earlier today, although they gave few details regarding what the address will actually entail. Here is the announcement, as well as the official preview of the segment on WWE.com:

“One night after vanquishing The Legend Killer at SummerSlam, Drew McIntyre will open Raw tonight.
The WWE Champion called the victory over Randy Orton the most satisfying moment of his career. After The Apex Predator left numerous icons in his wake, McIntyre came into the WWE ThunderDome determined to halt his path of destruction. McIntyre’s pride in his accomplishment was evident in his eyes as he hoisted the title, but the fighting champion still refused to look away from The Viper.
What will be McIntyre’s next move on the red brand, and will he have a message for the battered Orton?”
With WWE’s Payback pay per view coming this Sunday, there is little time to build a new challenger. Surely, if McIntyre is going to defend the title on the show, a challenger will be named tonight. The most likely option would be another match with Orton but a new challenger could be named as well.
