On tonight’s episode of SmackDown and next week’s episode of Raw, the WWE Draft will be taking place, with dozens of stars from both brands eligible to be drafted.
The draft was only announced a few weeks ago, and the talk coming out of WWE is that the planning going into the draft has been pretty minimal.
However, there is one person in particular that we may see move from SmackDown to Raw, just a few months after he made the move to Friday nights.
That person is AJ Styles, who was traded over to SmackDown on May 22. Styles has been pretty vocal in the past about his dislike of Paul Heyman, who has now moved over to SmackDown to work as Roman Reigns’ advocate.
Styles also explained in a recent interview that since SmackDown moved to Friday nights, he hasn’t been able to watch his son play his high school football games, as Dave Meltzer explained in the most recent Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Styles was mad about missing his son’s high school football games, which are mostly played on Friday, he could go to Raw. The fact he did a clean job for Jey Uso on Smackdown was another indication, but nothing is ever a sure thing.
There’s very little else for Styles to achieve in WWE, and so moving from brand to brand will likely not affect him in terms of how the company sees him.
He has said many times that he intends to retire once his current contract with WWE expires, but we’ll have to see over the next few days whether or not he will finish his career as part of SmackDown or Raw.
