According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, MLW star Davey Boy Smith Jr. is a target for WWE, AEW, NJPW and several other promotions right now.
Meltzer has even noted that Smith was present at Chris Jericho’s Halloween party last week where he spoke to Tony Khan, who has expressed an interest in signing him:
He was at Chris Jericho’s Halloween party this past week and spoke to Tony Khan but they aren’t talking any business until after his MLW deal is up. He’s had interest from WWE, Khan expressed interest, and there is interest from All Japan, Impact and MLW and has no favorite or leaning past saying this decision will be made based on offer and whatever makes the most sense business-wise.
This comes after it was revealed this week that Davey Boy Smith Jr will challenge Jacob Fatu for the MLW World Championship at The Restart. You can read more about that by clicking here.
It has previously been reported that Davey Boy Smith is under contract with MLW until next month, so it’s possible that the former WWE star could re-join Vince McMahon’s promotion or sign with another relatively soon.
It was actually reported several weeks ago that WWE was interested in bringing Smith in to be part of the NXT UK brand, although it’s unclear whether that is still the plan. You can also read more about that by clicking here.
