It was reported a couple of weeks ago that long-time WWE commentator Tom Phillips had been released from the company, but Phillips never confirmed the news himself.
It appears however that the news was very much accurate, as Phillips has now plugged a podcast interview which will be released today, saying he’s “excited for the future”.
Richard Deitsch of Sports Media Podcast tweeted a plug for the interview with Phillips, and the tweet was re-tweeted by Phillips, as you can see below.
Have a listen to this tomorrow. I’m so excited about the future! https://t.co/5ZwRlv934V

In addition, Phillips’ Twitter bio no longer mentions WWE, so it’s all but confirmed that his 9-year tenure with WWE is over.
During his time with WWE, he commentated on pretty much every show you can imagine, including WWE NXT, NXT UK, 205 Live, Main Event, RAW and SmackDown.
He worked as lead commentator on Raw until he was replaced by Adnan Virk in April 2021. Virk was then replaced just seven weeks later by Jimmy Smith.
Everyone at WrestleTalk wishes Tom well for the future.
