Earlier this week, former WWE announcer Renee Paquette (Young) said that her non-compete clause with WWE was nearly up, and discussed the possibility of working with AEW in the future.
Many fans were shocked to hear that Paquette was under a non-compete clause, especially almost a year on from her WWE departure.
Dave Meltzer clarified the details of the clause in this week’s Wrestling Observer, stating that Renee was under an employee contract with the company, so could leave with two weeks notice, but since she left on her own she was unable to work for a competitor for one year.
Unlike the 90-day non-compete clause that all main roster talent sans Malakai Black are under, she was not paid by WWE during this time.
