Seth Rollins has recalled WWE’s original plan to break up the Shield, with plans for a singles match to take place at WrestleMania 30.
Speaking on Steve Austin’s Broken Skull Sessions, Rollins said there were plans to split the group – made up of himself, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose (Jon Moxley) – in Decemebr 2013/January 2014.
This would have led to a planned Roman Reigns vs Dean Ambrose singles match at WrestleMania 30, with Rollins the odd one out, potentially as a “special referee or something”.
Eventually, they spoke with management and the decision was changed, and instead the trio beat Kane and the New Age Outlaws at WrestleMania instead, before continuing to team for several months.
Seth Rollins then said when the split eventually did happen, it was sprung upon them out of nowhere the night it was happening.
Rollins also said during Broken Skull Sessions that he was “ready to strangle” Vince McMahon after the Hell in a Cell match against The Fiend, and also revealed how long is left on his current WWE contract.
