A potential spoiler has emerged on plans for a former champion to return to WWE on tonight’s episode of SmackDown.
It had previously been reported that Goldberg is slated to wrestle at Elimination Chamber in Saudi Arabia on February 19, with current creative plans for him to face Roman Reigns at the event.
Fightful Select (subscription required) now reports that Goldberg is set to appear on WWE SmackDown tonight. As of Thursday evening, the former Universal Champion was scheduled to travel to Oklahoma City for the show.
Goldberg has been figured into creative plans for the show, per the report. As of writing, the plan is still for the Hall of Famer to take on the Tribal Chief in Jeddah, but it was noted that these plans are subject to change.
Goldberg last wrestled at WWE Crown Jewel in October 2021, defeating Bobby Lashley in a No Holds Barred Falls Count Anywhere contest. Prior to this bout, the former Universal Champion had lost three straight title matches, defeated by Braun Strowman at WrestleMania 36, Drew McIntyre at Royal Rumble 2021, and Bobby Lashley at SummerSlam 2021.
The ex-WCW star previously stated he has one match left on his current WWE agreement.
