A top AEW name has discussed Rampage becoming a high priority right now for the promotion.
AEW Rampage premiered in August 2021 and drew 740,000 viewers. The second week of the program featuring CM Punk’s return to wrestling drew 1.129 million viewers.
In 2022, the show has seen the total viewership and level of importance decrease.
On the latest Grilling JR podcast, AEW commentator Jim Ross discussed his recent move to the commentary desk on Rampage.
Ross said:
“Rampage is a high priority right now within the confines of AEW. We want to make this Friday night show good and build a loyal audience and I think we’re going to do that. I really do. I enjoy the opportunity. I did the show with Excalibur and Schiavone and I love it. Just loved it. We had so much fun. When you cut your roster of announcers down to three, everything becomes more manageable. You’re not driving in so much traffic. That was the goal there.”
Following Rampage, All Elite Wrestling will present their fourth quarterly Battle of the Belts special.
