WWE held it’s first major stadium show in the United Kingdom in over 30 years last month, when Clash at the Castle took over Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales.
The main event saw Drew McIntyre challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship, coming up short thanks to the main roster debut of Roman Reigns’ other cousin, Solo Sikoa.
The show was long requested by WWE fans in the UK, and was a big success for the company, and it seems like us UK based WWE fans may be in for more like it in the future.
Dave Meltzer wrote in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter that, amid potential changes to WWE’s event calendar, there has been an idea of running a yearly event in the United Kingdom.
He wrote:
There are a lot of PPV changes rumored for 2023 which include the idea of doing one PPV per year from the U.K. to go along with the two from Saudi Arabia. The other change seems to be less gimmick named PPV shows.
The changes to WWE’s schedule come after the company cancelled the planned second edition of it’s Day 1 premium live event, with it not being rescheduled or renamed, with no premium live events currently scheduled between Survivor Series and the Royal Rumble.
