AEW announced several matches for this week’s episode (October 28) of AEW Rampage on TNT during last night’s AEW Dynamite show, including a tag team match pitting Wheeler Yuta and Jon Moxley of the Blackpool Combat Club against 2point0’s Matt Menard and Angelo Parker of the Jericho Appreciation Society.
This match raised questions when it was announced, as Wheeler is scheduled for a six-man tag team match for NJPW Strong on that same day, finding himself double booked for October 28.
Wheeler provided an update on the situation today, which AEW shared on Twitter. In the video, Wheeler addressed the issue, before saying that, due to accepting the NJPW Strong date for longer than the Rampage date, he would be honoring that date, and thus would be unable to compete on Rampage as announced.
Instead, AEW announced that AEW World Champion Jon Moxley will be going one-on-one with Matt Menard in an AEW World Championship Eliminator match.
Wheeler also claimed in the video that NJPW would be sending one of their ‘best and brightest’ stars to AEW ‘very soon’.
