A former WWE has claimed that WWE is no longer trademarking his ring name allowing him to file for its ownership.
Ryback Allen Reeves (previously Ryan until he legally changed his name) performed in WWE from 2004 to his departure in 2016.
He has sought to secure his WWE ring name, going so far as to legally change his first name to Ryback as a way to continue its use.
Previous reports have stated that the name was originally trademarked by WWE in 2011, with it being renewed in 2019.
In September 2022, Wrestling Inc had reported that:
“Reeves filed a petition with The United States Patent and Trademark Office in order to cancel the registration by WWE.”
Reeves is now claiming, via his official Twitter account, that he is in the process of taking the name back and trademarking it for himself.
The post from December 31 2022, reads:
“WWE has given up and given their resignation for my RYBACK TM.
“Everything I have created has been awarded to me and we await the USPTO to make it official.
“The next chapter begins in 2023 now that my health has been restored.
“Never give up and stay #Hungry!
“Thank you Rybackers.”
