WWE co-CEO Stephanie McMahon sent an email within WWE today to accompany the announcement of Vince McMahon’s return.
According to Brandon Thurston of Wrestlenomics, Stephanie wrote:
“Today, WWE announced the return of our founder Vince McMahon to our Board of Directors and a review of the company’s strategic alternatives. Please see attached.
“Nick, Frank, and I will discuss this exciting opportunity at today’s All Employee meeting. See you at 3:30.”
We will of course keep you updated with any news that comes out of the meeting later.
Going by Stephanie’s email, it sounds like she, Nick Khan (the other co-CEO), and Frank Riddick III (WWE’s company president, who replaced Khan in that role when Khan was made co-CEO), will lead the meeting.
WWE’s statement acknowledged that Vince McMahon replaced three members of the Board of Directors with himself, Michelle Wilson and George Barrios today.
The three members that were replaced were JoEllen Lyons Dillon, Jeffrey R Speed and Alan M Wexler.
Following this news, two further members of the Board resigned of their own volition, those being Man Jit Singh and Ignace Lahoud.
That means WWE’s Board of Directors is currently:
- Vince McMahon
- Stephanie McMahon
- Nick Khan
- Paul Levesque
- Steve Koonin
- Michelle McKenna
- Steve Pamon
- George Barrios
- Michelle Wilson
Vince McMahon has stated his intention upon returning to the WWE Board of Directors is to facilitate a sale of the company.
He has changed bylaws to ensure that any media rights deals and any company sale can’t be completed without his approval.
