Mercedes Mone (FKA Sasha Banks) wrestled her first match in nine months at last night’s NJPW Battle In The Valley.
The newly dubbed ‘CEO’ honored the late Hana Kimura during her entrance ahead of her IWGP Women’s Championship match with KAIRI on the show.
KAIRI was the inaugural IWGP Women’s Champion, winning the vacant title against Mayu Iwatani at the NJPW x STARDOM Historic X-Over card last year.
Mercedes made her debut at Wrestle Kingdom 17 following KAIRI’s defence against Tam Nakano, setting up the match for Battle in the Valley.
The match saw Mercedes hit many interesting spots, including a Three Amigos and a Bayley to Belly Suplex.
In the end, Mercedes hit the Mone Maker to score the win, and make her the second-ever IWGP Women’s Champion.4
Bayley, Naomi and Tamina were in attendance for the show to support Mercedes.
