An AEW name has opened up about a WWE Hall of Famer’s disappointing run in the company due to “limitations” and health.
When Scott Steiner returned to WWE in 2002, hopes were high for the powerhouse performer of WCW fame.
Sadly, those hopes were dashed as time went on.
Jim Ross would address the “snakebit” disappointment on Grilling JR (subscription required), saying:
“Yeah, he wasn’t, Scotty wasn’t healthy to the level that he could go out and be the athlete that he was coming out of Michigan
“His body was taking a toll and a lot of those big muscle guys have that issue and I just think Scotty wasn’t healthy.
“His injuries and culmination of injuries simply did not allow him to have his normal, back-in-the-day, athletic match. Plus, he was getting older.”
Steiner’s original WWE run was in 1992 and would come to an end in 1994.
From there, a brief stop in ECW would eventually see him return to ECW where he would evolve into the Steiner that many fans recognise today.
Steiner was released by WWE in 2004 and would be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame with his brother Rick in 2022.
