WWE management is reportedly “really, really high” on an NXT star who has emerged through the developmental system in recent months.
Sol Ruca only had her first ever match in June 2022, but she’s already caught the eyes of fans and WWE officials alike.
Ruca, real name Calyx Hampton, joined WWE as a member of the March 2022 group of Performance Center recruits with a background in acrobatics and tumbling.
After a few months, she started working matches at house shows and on NXT Level Up, but more recently, she’s becoming a featured player on NXT TV.
Even though her athleticism was clear to see for anyone who’d watched her on Level Up in the months prior, really it was only in December that people started taking notice after a clip her new Sol Snatcher finishing move (a forward flipping “cutter” off the second rope) went viral.
Even WWE’s head of creative Paul Levesque (Triple H) tweeted about the clip when it was going around, saying “the future is SO bright”.
It’s no coincidence that we’re starting to see more of Ruca on NXT TV, as Dave Meltzer said on Wrestling Observer Radio that WWE is “very, very high” on her.
She recently picked up a TV win over Alba Fyre, and has a match on tonight’s February 28 episode of NXT against Elektra Lopez.
