WWE Hall of Famer and current AEW star Billy Gunn recently spoke in an interview with SportsKeeda, where he revealed that AEW has reached out ‘a couple of times’ to WWE Hall of Famer Sean ‘X-Pac’ Waltman.
“I don’t know if that’s the thing right now, because I think you’d be hard-pressed to get Tony to get me away from The Acclaimed right now. No, I mean, it would be great. I think we’ve tried to get Sean in here a couple of times. Things just didn’t work out.
“I think if the time’s right, I think he would be a great asset because he still has huge popularity, everybody knows him, and he’s such a good guy that he would not only help the younger talent as well as be a good representative for our company. He’d be amazing if we could get him in here.”
In an update from Nick Hausman of Haus of Wrestling, AEW has reportedly reached out to Waltman about working with the promotion, including possibly doing something alongside Billy Gunn.
Hausman could not get specific details about the pitch made to Waltman, but was told that Waltman did not want to come in for a one-off appearance.
The report ended by noting that Waltman is in the process of getting back into ring shape, with those close to him saying that they would not be surprised if he showed up in AEW.
Waltman has often been speculated about potentially wrestling one more match, with his name being speculated for a surprise appearance in the Royal Rumble in recent years.
