After a top AEW star was pulled from AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023 due to illness, his opponent was still showcased in a dark match.
A dark match was added to AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023 after Adam Cole was pulled from his previously announced match due to illness.
Cole’s planned opponent, Tom Lawlor, featured in a dark match ahead of the event in a bout against Serpentico.
Lawlor defeated Serpentico via submission and has since reacted to the Cole match being cut from tonight’s show on Twitter.
Lawlor tweeting the succinct statement: “F**KING GUTTED.”
He also added:
“Thanks to Serpentico for wrestling me in front of the live crowd. You won’t see me on Forbidden Door but it’s going to be a great wrestling show so order and watch it.”
Elsewhere on tonight’s AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door 2023, the Zero Hour has commenced with an eight-man tag match already.
Mogul Embassy (Swerve Strickland, Bishop Kaun, & Toa Liona) bested CHAOS (Rocky Romero, Trent, & El Desperado) in the first match of the Zero Hour.
