With Rush’s AEW contract due to expire in the near future, WWE’s current level of interest in the Mexican luchador has been revealed.
Rush debuted in May 2022 for AEW on what is reportedly a one-year deal, with recent visa issues seemingly being the reason he hasn’t appeared as of late.
WWE is currently involved in a long-running lawsuit with MLW that has made them cautious of engaging with AEW talent who are currently under contract.
With regards to Rush, Dave Meltzer provided an update in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, writing:
Rush has been talked about a lot in WWE given his contract situation although he is believed to have a very strong AEW offer to stay.
Rush’s future is in question. Both WWE and AEW have interest in him.
The AEW offer is far far bigger than anyone in NXT is getting (I exclude Gable Steveson because I have no idea what they would pay a gold medalist with no experience but if it wasn’t big money he’d be doing MMA).
So WWE would have to offer main roster money to be in the ballpark
On June 10, 2023, Rush cut ties with Lucha Libre AAA which resulted in Konnan slamming the AEW star and accusing him of, among other things, charging “a lot of f**king money.”
In the same report, Konnan would also take issue with the conduct of Bandido who had also parted ways with AAA.
