On WWE NXT, a faction with a cult-like following continues to grow as the stable had a big six-man tag match ahead of NXT Great American Bash.
On the go-home edition of WWE NXT before NXT’s premium live event, Great American Bash, there was a big six-man tag match putting the Schism (Jagger Reid, Rip Fowler and Joe Gacy) against Carmelo Hayes, Trick Williams and Ilja Dragunov.
With Hayes and Dragunov set to do battle at Great American Bash for the WWE NXT Championship, there weren’t hints of dissension throughout the match, rather the pair worked rather well together.
That was until an inadvertent move saw Joe Gacy move at the last minute, leading to Ilja slamming Trick into the steel stairs.
Notably in the crowd, a growing number of yellow masked Schism followers, scattered about in front of the camera, however there would be two that ultimately interfered in the match by sneaking over the barricade from the crowd.
Near the end of the match, two of the apparent Schism followers (who still look suspiciously like the forms of Julius and Brutus Creed) interfered in the match but it was very confusing what they were doing.
After Joe Gacy tagged in and the Dyad exited the ring to the ring apron, the two yellow masked men pulled them down from the apron, leaving Gacy isolated in the ring.
With Carmelo Hayes able to capitalize on the leader of Schism left alone, he picked up the victory.
After the match, Williams was clearly displeased with Dragunov while Hayes held Trick back from continuing any altercation. Carmelo Hayes and Ilja Dragunov will go head to head on Sunday, July 30 for the NXT Championship at Great American Bash.
Announced ahead of tonight’s show, WWE Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley will take on Lyra Valkyria in the show’s main event as the Judgment Day’s Ripley and Dominik Mysterio continue to appear on NXT, including tonight’s opening segment.
