An update has emerged on WWE pulling Becky Lynch vs Trish Stratus from SummerSlam 2023, as announced on Monday Night Raw.
On last night’s episode of WWE Raw (July 31), a match was announced for last night between Becky Lynch and Trish Stratus, despite the match being planned for SummerSlam ever since Stratus returned several months ago.
When that match took place, Zoey Stark immediately interfered to cause a disqualification, setting up a rematch where she’d be banned from ringside.
However, that rematch won’t be taking place at SummerSlam either – instead, it’ll be on the August 14 Raw episode in Winnipeg, Canada.
Per Fightful Select, the decision to delay this match was made this past weekend.
WWE reportedly discussed the possibility of moving the match to the Payback premium live event on September 2, before it was announced for the Winnipeg edition of Raw.
Many fans have criticised WWE’s decision to move this match off SummerSlam as the company has been building to this match since April, and there are now only two women’s matches official for the event, instead of the initially planned four, with Rhea Ripley vs Raquel Rodriguez also seemingly being postponed.
SummerSlam 2023 will take place this weekend on Saturday, August 5. The show will emanate from Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.
