WWE Intercontinental Champion GUNTHER has called out his former rival Sheamus, arguing that the Irish star isn’t focused enough on his goals.
GUNTHER and Sheamus have faced off several times with the Intercontinental Title on the line, with GUNTHER defeating the popular star in singles matches at Clash at the Castle in September 2022, and on the October 7 episode of SmackDown.
The duo last faced off when GUNTHER defended his Intercontinental Championship against Sheamus and Drew McIntyre at WrestleMania 39 in April.
Speaking with Sportskeeda, GUNTHER praised Sheamus’ physicality, noting that Sheamus’ weaknesses aren’t in the ring.
Arguing that Sheamus doesn’t have mind strength, GUNTHER said:
“He’s strong; he’s physical. He can go. Like he doesn’t really stop, and he brings great energy into the ring. He’s got the kind of energy, as an opponent, you could feed off it.
“You can’t keep the guy down. He keeps coming at you. I think that creates an exciting match for the audience.
“His weakness is nothing really in the ring. He’s weakness is up here (mind) and in the heart. He’s got a soft heart, he doesn’t have mind strength, and he seems frustrated.
“I see him popping up on Twitter every second day, making comments. I don’t think he’s focused enough on what he really wants and tries to figure out different ways to reach his goal.”
Sheamus recently called WWE out for wasting his momentum following his September 2022 match with GUNTHER at Clash at the Castle.
Many fans are invested in Sheamus chasing the Intercontinental Title as it’s the last championship Sheamus needs to win to become a WWE Grand Slam winner.
GUNTHER is slated to defend his gold against Drew McIntyre at SummerSlam.
