A veteran name has revealed his interest in bringing a popular IMPACT act to AEW, if he didn’t have to work directly with AEW CEO Tony Khan.
Speaking on the latest episode of K100, Konnan discussed whether he would be interested in bringing LAX to AEW, as three former members of the group – Santana, Ortiz and Eddie Kingston – are all contracted to the company.
While Ortiz and Santana have had issues, Konnan said he would be interested in bringing the popular group to AEW TV.
However, only on the condition – that he could have full creative control of the group and directly report to AEW producer Sonjay Dutt, who he worked with in IMPACT.
Konnan explained why:
“The only way would be if I had creative control and I could work with Sonjay (Dutt) because Sonjay and Jeremy Borash, I worked with very closely, and I had really good chemistry.”
“I wouldn’t want to be fighting with Tony (Khan) all the time about stuff, so I’d rather have Sonjay handle that.”
While an LAX reunion may not be on the cards in AEW, fans continue to question when and in what capacity we will see former Proud N Powerful partners Santana and Ortiz return to AEW TV.
Santana has not wrestled for the company since June 2022, where he suffered a serious injury in that year’s Blood & Guts match, whereas Ortiz has also been off TV for much of this year, last appearing on ROH in April.
One of the members of the team recently addressed his absence amid the continued uncertainty, check here for details.
