Jake “The Snake” Roberts wants AEW to do something with Griff Garrison, suggesting that there should be more of a focus on him.
Garrison made his first AEW appearance in June 2020 and would be signed by the company along with Brian Pillman Jr in July 2021.
He underwent surgery in December 2022 and has recently returned to the ring defeating Lee Moriarty on ROH on HonorClub in June 2023.
Speaking on the potential of young stars like Garrison, Robert addressed the need for more attention on his Snake Pit podcast, saying:
“He’s a great guy to be around. So I can’t see him being hard to deal with. It just, it’s just something that’s going to take time. You know, you gotta focus on these people.
“You can’t put ’em out there one week and say, okay, show us what you got and expect a whole lot of anything. It just doesn’t work that way.
“You gotta put him in situations where he has to get over. That takes time. It also takes talent. You gotta feed him… somebody.
“You can’t work your way up the ladder without beating a few people. Exactly. In a singles match, he’d be fun to work with.”
Garrison faced Cole Karter at the ROH tapings on August 12 in Greensboro and would lose that match.
His former tag team partner’s, Brian Pillman Jr, contract with AEW expired on July 11, 2023 and it has recently been suggested that he has signed with WWE.
