A major former WWE star made an appearance and was shown at AEW All In at London’s Wembley Stadium today.
Earlier today, Mercedes Mone, formerly WWE’s Sasha Banks, had posted pictures of social media of her in London, which obviously prompted a lot of talk that she could show up at All In.
However, any time a wrestler does that, until it’s confirmed you never know whether it’s just a tease or a troll or something of that nature.
Well, this time it wasn’t, and Mone is in fact present at All In.
She was only shown on camera watching the show in the crowd, but she did have an official nameplate and all the works, as well as being referred to as a seven-time world champion.
Renee Paquette, who was hosting the pre-show, said that Mone will “have her eyes on” the Women’s World Championship four-way tonight.
That match is Hikaru Shida defending the title against Saraya, Toni Storm and Britt Baker.
We’ll keep you posted with any updates that emerge on what exactly Mone’s status is with AEW.
Mone hasn’t wrestled since May when she suffered an ankle injury during an NJPW match against AEW’s Willow Nightingale, which led to Nightingale winning the match that Mone was actually originally planned to win, and becoming the inaugural NJPW Strong Women’s Champion, which for all intents and purposes was a championship created specifically for Mone to hold.
Just before Mone was shown during the pre-show, MJF and Adam Cole beat Aussie Open to win the ROH World Tag Team Championship.
Of course, MJF and Cole will actually face each other in the main event of All In later today.
