A top AEW name has called Darby Allin “one of the best homegrown prospects he’s ever seen.”
Jim Ross has a very lengthy career in the professional wrestling business. Starting out as a broadcaster, JR eventually worked as WWE’s Head of Talent Relations during a period where some of the biggest stars came into the promotion.
Ross was at the helm for WWE when they signed The Rock, Mick Foley, Edge, Brock Lesnar and John Cena. There aren’t many wrestling minds who can point out a top notch prospect quite like “good ol’ JR.”
Speaking on Grilling JR, Jim Ross discussed the September 9 edition of AEW Collision and the Roderick Strong vs. Darby Allin match. Complimenting Darby Allin in particular, Ross said:
“Earlier in the night, the Roddy Strong/Darby Allin match was nothing short of epic. He’s a fearless kid, I love him. He’s just one of the best homegrown prospects I’ve ever seen.”
“He’s young, he’s in his mid-20s. So if he can hold up…that whole story was about his spine, his back.”
“That’s what the announcers should be talking about because that was the whole story. Roddy Strong did a lot of creative things to focus on that body part.”
Roderick Strong pulled out the win over Darby Allin to advance to the Grand Slam World Title Eliminator Tournament Finals.
However, Strong came up short against Samoa Joe who will move on to face MJF at AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam next Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Allin will team with Sting to face Christian Cage and Luchasaurus at AEW Grand Slam from New York’s Arthur Ashe Stadium on September 20.
