A NJPW star says a match with Samoa Joe “would be fun.”
Since the inaugural AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door in 2022, fans have been given some of the biggest dream matches between the two promotions.
From Kenny Omega vs. Will Ospreay to Bryan Danielson vs. Zack Sabre Jr., AEW and NJPW has offered fans their best fantasy booking dreams before their eyes.
After the success of this year’s Forbidden Door, many fans have already started to speculate on what bouts could be in store in 2024.
In a new interview with Ciaran of WrestleInn, Jeff Cobb was asked to name an AEW star he wanted to face at Forbidden Door 2024. Naming current ROH World TV Champion Samoa Joe, he answered:
“There’s been tons of people online lately that’s been tagging Tony Khan and putting myself against Samoa Joe.”
“So if the stars align and we can have Samoan Joseph against Hawaiian Jeffrey, it’s totally fine by me.”
“I’m always down to get punched in the face as long as I’m gonna be doing some of the punching as well. I think that’d be a fun little match.”
“A lot of the time, I get compared to a lot of Samoans in my career, like Roman Reigns or The Rock or Samoa Joe, so I think it would be fun to get in the ring and mix it up with a shoot tough guy.”
Jeff Cobb last wrestled in singles action in a loss to Tetsuya Naito at NJPW Destruction In Kobe. He and Naito will meet in an eight-man tag team match at NJPW Destruction In Ryogoku on October 9.
