Last night’s episode of AEW Collision kicked off in a shocking way, when Big Bill and Ricky Starks defeated FTR in quick fashion to capture the AEW World Tag Team Championship.
The reason for the shocking change has been speculated, with Dax Harwood taking to Twitter to debunk rumours that the two were on their way out of AEW.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer and Bryan Alvarez confirmed what had been said on air, that Cash Wheeler of FTR is currently injured, suffering an injury during FTR’s defence against Aussie Open.
They said:
Alvarez: “Cash is injured.”
Meltzer: “That’s what it sure appeared to be.”
Alvarez: “Well, he is injured, that’s the story. The story they told on television was it was at the pay-per-view when Aussie Open ran them together, they sold it like he’d injured his rib there.”
They noted that they are unsure as to how long Wheeler is expected to be out of action for.
