A battle for the Dynamite Diamond Ring kicked off tonight’s AEW Dynamite with MJF going up against Juice Robinson.
In what turned out to be a bloody battle, MJF and Robinson put on an enjoyable match with Jay White adding additional storyline input on commentary.
In the end though, MJF was able to sneakily put on the actual Dynamite Diamond Ring – to counter Robinson trying to cheat with his own ring – and win the match.
However after the match when the Gunns were attacking MJF, Roderick Strong rolled out on his wheelchair with the Kingdom to offer some support.
But when the Gunns booted them from the ring, they then stood by while Jay White joined the fray to attack MJF.
Luckily for MJF, the Acclaimed ran out (Max Caster, Anthony Bowens and Billy Gunn) to make the save.
In a back and forth exchange after, the Gunns challenged MJF to a match for the ROH tag team titles at Full Gear and MJF accepted, marking the third pay-per-view that MJF will pull double duty.
Also by the end of the exchange, MJF and Jay White struck a deal by which they would face off in a multi-person tag match on next Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite.
With Bullet Club Gold taking on MJF and any three tag team partners, if MJF wins then Jay White has to give him back his AEW championship belt.
While not yet confirmed, it seems MJF’s partners will be the Acclaimed rather than Roderick Strong and the Kingdom.
But the antics didn’t end there as before MJF could leave the stage, he was met by Kenny Omega who noted that he deserved the shot to defend his title reign as the longest.
Kenny Omega challenged MJF to a match for the world championship on AEW Collision this Saturday and he accepted – if Omega wins, he’ll prevent MJF from reigning as champion for longer than he did.
