An AEW star has stated their belief that the company is on the “same level” as the WWE.
Despite WWE averaging higher attendance figures, TV viewership and overall global recognition, AEW’s Powerhouse Hobbs believes that the two company’s are on par with each other.
Speaking on Chillin With Ice, Hobbs explained his reasoning:
“We’re on the same level as them. We’re their competitors. They’re on national TV and we’re on national TV.
“We go head-to-head. We’re right on them. We’ve beaten them in ratings at times.
“We’re right there on their neck. There are two major companies in this business, and it’s WWE and AEW.
“We’re right there with them.”
Hobbs then discussed a potential WWE move, reiterating that he doesn’t see one company above the other, saying:
“When people say, ‘Do you ever want to go to WWE?’ I tell people, we’re right there with them.
“If you’re watching AEW or you’re watching WWE, I think any wrestling fan should watch all wrestling.
“So you’re getting all types of flavors. We’re right there on their neck.”
Powerhouse Hobbs recently joined up with the Don Callis Family ahead of a big match next week.
That match will see Hobbs team with Konosuke Takeshita, Kyle Fletcher and Sammy Guevara if he’s cleared against Kota Ibushi, Kenny Omega, Chris Jericho and a returning Paul Wight (Big Show).
