Ric Flair has issued a statement to Tony Khan after comments he allegedly made in a promo at a recent AEW show.
Ric Flair was announced as a signing to All Elite Wrestling last month, with him set to accompany Sting for the next few months ahead of his retirement at AEW Revolution next year.
Flair’s signing and appearances on AEW television have been criticised by many AEW fans, and Flair has now commented on all the negativity towards him being in the company.
Sting and Flair appeared together for a segment on AEW Rampage after last night’s November 29 Dynamite, during which, according to fans who were in attendance and reported on social media afterwards, Flair “invited all the women in the audience from ages 18-28 to meet him in his hotel room. No boyfriends or husbands.”
There doesn’t seem to be any video footage of it, but there has been a lot of criticism aimed his way today because of the claims that he said it.
Taking to Twitter today, Ric Flair issued a statement to Tony Khan, where he said that he is more than willing to walk away if he is embarrassing the company.
He said:
I Am So Tired Of Hearing All This Negativity! I Don’t Need To Work, And I Don’t Need The Money. Can’t I Simply Enjoy Being By My Dear Friend @Sting’s Side For The Next Few Months Without So Much Hatred? I Know I’m Old, But That Doesn’t Mean I Can’t Enjoy Life! I Have Earned The Right To Do Whatever I Want & I’m Exactly Where I Want To Be! I Appreciate Everything @TonyKhan, But I’m More Than Willing To Walk Away If I Am Embarrassing You And Your Company. All I Can Say Is I’m Sorry!
Flair signed a multi-year contract with AEW in conjunction with his energy drink Wooooo! Energy being a sponsor of the show.
Sting and Ric Flair have been announced as appearing on Rampage for their segment, but if that line was said, it may be edited out due to the controversy it’s caused.
