Released star and former WWE United States Champion Matt Riddle has explained why he’s not surprised CM Punk has returned to WWE.
CM Punk and Matt Riddle have been like two ships passing in the night as Punk debuted in the UFC after Riddle was released, and then Punk returned to WWE after Riddle was released from that company.
“The Original Bro” was released from WWE on September 21 and recently completed his 90-day non-compete clause on December 21.
Speaking to MMA Junkie, Riddle was asked about CM Punk’s WWE return. He answered:
“I’m not surprised because WWE, they like money and CM Punk is money, just like he was money in Mixed Martial Arts.”
“You can’t argue with a man that is money. That’s like with UFC. I know if I fight, I’ll sell tickets. It’s just if they want it,”
Riddle has been announced for the upcoming MLW Kings of Colosseum event where he will face Jacob Fatu, while Punk has officially declared for the 2024 Men’s Royal Rumble match next month.
