A WWE Hall of Famer has discussed where he believes that AEW shows are failing when compared to those of WWE.
While there are undoubtedly a lot of similarities between WWE and AEW programming, there are also a lot of differences between the two, for better or worse.
Speaking on the Kliq This podcast, WWE Hall of Famer Kevin Nash discussed the recent hometown entrance Jim Ross made on the show in Oklahoma City, when he noted issues with the production of the show, specifically the shooting of empty seats in the arena.
He said:
“They showed a thing on Instagram, and I don’t think that they did it for effect, where they brought back JR in Oklahoma City. And JR came down and they showed him, they played his music and down he came the ramp and then they showed, whoever was taking the shot of him, clearly the entire upper deck was wide open, the bottom deck, as I’m looking towards the ramp, so the right-hand side which would be opposite hard camera, the bottom bowl’s not full.”
Nash commented on the shot of AEW shows having empty seats compared to WWE’s shows, which are typically more sold out, and even when they weren’t WWE would avoid shooting the empty parts of the arena to give the illusion that it was full.
WWE recently packed over 15,000 fans into Madison Square Garden for the annual holiday season live event at the Garden, featuring CM Punk’s first WWE match in almost a decade.
