AEW star and former WWE Tag Team Champion Matt Hardy has discussed reuniting with Scotty 2 Hotty at a recent AEW Dynamite taping.
At the December 27 AEW Dynamite: New Year’s Smash taping, former WWE star Scotty 2 Hotty made his debut with the company and even came out to his original Too Cool theme song.
On the latest episode of The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy, the AEW star recalled his conversation with Scott Taylor backstage when they reunited. Hardy said:
“He just said we’re the last of the Attitude Era, you know.”
“It’s like myself, Jeff, Adam, Jay –- Edge and Christian, Jericho. You know, he even threw himself in there.”
“Really, there’s only a few guys, like in four or five years from now, there’s not going to be any left… Billy Gunn actually fits in there too.”
Noting that these Attitude Era stars still have equity to these promotions, Hardy said:
“We have so much equity from being on TV in the hottest period in wrestling history, and it’s very important, I feel, to use those legends in a correct way.”
On the legends needing to be willing to help others, Matt stated:
“Especially if you have people that are willing to work with everybody else and help elevate other young talent around them,”
