Former two-time TNT Champion Darby Allin is set to face a first time opponent on tonight’s January 3 edition of AEW Dynamite.
At AEW Worlds End, Sammy Guevara, Chris Jericho, Sting and Darby Allin defeated Ricky Starks, Big Bill, Powerhouse Hobbs and Konosuke Takeshita in an eight-man tag team bout.
On Wednesday afternoon, AEW President Tony Khan announced that Darby Allin will face Konosuke Takeshita in a first-time ever matchup. The tweet reads:

This will mark Darby’s first Dynamite match since November 8 and his first singles match on Dynamite since the September 6 episode.
Meanwhile, the match will be Takeshita’s first match on Dynamite since November 15 and his first singles bout on the show since June 7.
Already announced for tonight’s show, Adam Cole will explain his actions after being revealed as The Devil, Swerve Strickland will face Daniel Garcia and Mariah May will make her in-ring debut.
Also, Orange Cassidy will defend the AEW International Championship against Dante Martin.
