There has been an update on whether or not WWE cancelled a planned CM Punk Royal Rumble victory following his injury in the match.
It has been reported today that CM Punk suffered an injury during his return match in the Royal Rumble last Saturday.
Punk reportedly suffered a torn tricep in the match, but ended up lasting until the very end, being the final man eliminated by Cody Rhodes, who punched his ticket to WrestleMania.
The timing of the injury was rather curious, with Punk being the favourite to win the match heading into the show, which led to some speculation that his injury caused a change of plans.
However, in an update from Dave Meltzer, that was never the case, and Punk was never planned to win the Rumble match.
Punk is believed to be undergoing surgery following his appearance on tonight’s Raw show, with him set to miss WrestleMania and be out of action for 4-6 months.
The first hour of tonight’s show is set to air commercial free, and feature appearances from both Royal Rumble winners.
