The Rock has opened up on his training preparations for his expected in-ring WWE return at WrestleMania 40.
Despite his seemingly planned place in the WrestleMania main event looking to be scrapped in favor of Cody Rhodes, The Rock is still expected to be making his in-ring WWE return at the Showcase of the Immortals.
Having not competed in a WWE ring since a six second bout with Erick Rowan at WrestleMania 32, questions have naturally been asked by fans regarding The Great One’s in-ring conditioning.
During his recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Rock discussed how he plans to get back into ring-shape before making his return.
Rock said:
“In the world of pro wrestling, I haven’t done that in a very long time.
“So, when I do go back to the ring at WrestleMania, the most important thing is the training camp, which I have already started.
“I have multiple rings set up over in Hawaii, I have a ring set up on the west coast, and we’re full on in camp.
“I was very lucky in my career in that I was somewhat of a ring general and knowing the ring and where to go and where to be at certain times. But the training camp part of it is hard.
“You could work out on the weights, all the stuff that you want to do, but until you go back in the ring and you take those falls, those slams, those suplexes, stuff like that, there’s nothing like it.”
Much of WWE fans fears for Rock’s in-ring condition stem from the concoction of injuries the 10-time world champion suffered during his last full-length bout at WrestleMania 29 against John Cena.
This included a torn quadricep, abductor and abdominal muscles, as well as being forced to undergo an emergency hernia operation.
We don’t yet know what creative have planned for Rock at WrestleMania, however we do know when we can next expect to see The Great One back on WWE TV.
We also know whether Rock will indeed be playing a heel on the Road to WrestleMania, with The People’s Champion confirming as much in a recent social media post – click here for full details.
Rock has also featured in the brand new WrestleMania 40 teaser trailer alongside his potential opponents in Philadelphia.
