A former WWE star is gone from AEW according to a new report after his contract expired and he hasn’t re-signed.
An AEW star is reportedly a free agent according to new word just out after WrestleMania 40 with an interesting recent addition of time to his contract.
According to a report from Fightful Select, Matt Hardy is currently a free agent.
While his contract was noted to have ‘technically’ been set to expire in March, word within the company was that it was extended for a few weeks ‘through WrestleMania’.
There was not a reason given as to why the extension occurred given that he did not have any apparent absence due to injury during his time with AEW.
The report notes that those close to Hardy were told that he elected to let the deal lapse after not re-signing the deal that was offered to him.
Whether or not we could see Matt Hardy appear back in WWE remains unclear however he was recently in attendance for an episode of WWE Raw.
It was noted later that it was actually an invitation from friends who had a suite at the event and both he and wife Reby Hardy were only there for part of the show.
