On the April 24, 2024, episode of AEW Dynamite, Powerhouse Hobbs faced Jon Moxley for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship.
The match marked Moxley’s first defense of the championship and would see him victorious, with highlights below this news story.
It has since been reported that Powerhouse Hobbs has picked up an injury during the championship match.
Speaking on Wrestling Observer Live, Bryan Alvarez stated:
“I want to start by wishing the best to Hobbs. If you watched the show last night, that was not a worked knee injury.
“He went for a high cross or something and smashed into the turnbuckles and injured his knee.
“He could barely walk and he hopped his way back into the ring, hopped into like two spots and got choked out.
“There was more they were going to do…The Hobbs match was obviously supposed to go longer than it did.
“We don’t know the extent of his knee injury yet except that it is real. Hopefully, it is not bad.”
The AEW Dynamite match from Daily’s Place in Jacksonville ran to around ten minutes.
After the match Konosuke Takeshita would appear, setting a challenge to Moxley for the championship and has since revealed that he is “craving” the match.
NJPW star Yota Tsuji has recently stated he doesn’t believe AEW has respect for the IWGP World Heavyweight Title.
WrestleTalk wishes Powerhouse Hobbs well in his recovery from injury.
