AEW Star ‘Craving’ Title Match With Jon Moxley AEW

The IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Jon Moxley has a new challenger for his title after AEW Dynamite on April 24, 2024.

Following a successful first title defense on last night’s AEW Dynamite, defeating Powerhouse Hobbs, Jon Moxley’s celebration was cut short of Konosuke Takeshita.

Highlights from the match can be seen below this news story, along with the post-match appearance from Takeshita.

Takeshita has reiterated his challenge on Twitter, tweeting:

“I’m craving your belt MOX.”

Moxley defeated Tetsuya Naito to win the IWGPW World Heavyweight Championship at NJPW Windy City Riot.

After a decade with DDT Pro-Wrestling, Takeshita made his AEW debut at the The House Always Wins non-televised house show.

Ahead of the first title defense on AEW Dynamite, Yota Tsuji shared his “disgust and displeasure” at the decision.

He has crossed paths with Moxley before in AEW, losing their first encounter in the AEW Interim World Championship Eliminator match at Fyter Fest in July 2022.

Takeshita would face Moxley again in December 2022 in another losing effort.

2023 would see him allied with Blackpool Combat Club (Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli & Wheeler Yuta) and Shota Umino taking on The Elite (Adam Page & The Young Bucks), Eddie Kingston and Tomohiro Ishii at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door in June of that year.

He would find in the ring with Moxley again at the July 2023 AEW Dynamite: Blood & Guts where The Golden Elite (Adam Page, Kenny Omega, Kota Ibushi, Matt Jackson & Nick Jackson) defeated the team of Blackpool Combat Club (Claudio Castagnoli, Jon Moxley & Wheeler Yuta), Konosuke Takeshita & PAC.

Moxley has recently revealed that he signed an NJPW contract before he signed an AEW one.

He has also shared his thoughts after fans thought he may turn up at WWE WrestleMania 40.
