The duo literally threw everything at each other, including chairs, tables, barbed wire and thumbtacks. A match not for the squeamish, Jon did anything and everything to distinguish his new gritty persona from WWE’s ‘Dean Ambrose’.
Joey, unwilling to become a footnote in Moxley’s history, sacrificed life and limb in order to prove his worth. With too many sickening spots to count, this early AEW contest will leave you stunned.
5. NXT North American Championship Ladder Match – NXT Takeover: New Orleans

A new championship! Debuts! Ladders! When NXT announced a ladder match would decide the first-ever NXT North American Champion, fans knew it would be special. The six men involved surpassed everyone’s expectations, fighting in one of the best ladder matches in WWE history.
Hot prospects EC3 and Ricochet made their debuts, sacrificed their own bodies to make a name for themselves. Unstoppable monsters Killian Dain and Lars Sullivan fought to determine who was the most dominant force in NXT.
Adam Cole used crafty tactics to try to retrieve the title without getting involved in too much action. Velveteen Dream was… Velveteen Dream. An extraordinary bout from some of NXT’s greatest, you’ll be on the edge of your seat the whole time.
4. WALTER vs. Will Ospreay – Over The Top Wrestling
When Devlin was decimated by Walter, the Irish promotion looked everywhere for somebody to defeat the disrespectful goliath. Coincidentally, Will Ospreay dreamed of holding the OTT title aloft in the Tokyo Dome.
To pay respects to a promotion that helped launch his career, the NJPW athlete challenged Walter in an insane encounter. Walter’s hard-hitting strikes and Ospreay’s aerial attacks provided an intriguing style clash.
Despite their differing motives, both men were hell-bent on leaving Ireland with the gold. With an engaging focus on respect, this all-out war became the match of 2018 for many.
