9. AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Nakamura – WrestleMania 34
After winning the 2018 men’s Royal Rumble match, Shinsuke Nakamura had earned the right to face either the Universal Champion or the WWE Champion at WrestleMania 34. Labeling it a “dream match,” the ‘King of Strong Style’ chose to face AJ Styles, the WWE Champ at the time.
The two had never faced each in WWE and only once ever before during their time together in New Japan Pro Wrestling in a singles contest. That match was highly regarded and given 4.75 stars by the Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer.
The two even had a brief stare down as they both competed in the multi-man Money in the Bank match the year prior to their ‘Mania showdown, building up even more intrigue from the fans to finally see these guys go at it one on one in the WWE.
